Whilst the previous site had this functionality, the new website required the videos to be searchable, and be able to be categorised by e.g. length of video, tutor, props used within the video, and level of ability, to crucially enable members to find suitable Pilates videos for their workout needs.
Building the video library
Fortem Digital approach this project with a clear focus on what visitors to the website, and subscribers, would be looking for to enable them to fulfil their workout needs. The videos needed metadata attached to them to make them searchable.
Crucially, as copyright for the videos sits with Bodyworks Pilates, the platform on which to host the videos was also of paramount importance. All 150 videos sit within one page of a subscription part of the Bodyworks website. They are streamed from a Vimeo paid account which enables restrictions to be placed by identifying which domains can play the videos, and that they can only be played through the Bodyworks Pilates website, thereby maintaining integrity and copyright ownership for Bodyworks.
Another useful functionality is the ability to favourite videos, so subscribers can return to their favourite workouts quickly and easily. As users may be using multiple devices to access the videos, the favourite button on each video is set to the subscriber’s login, rather than relying on a browser to control the favourites via cookies. The result? An easy user experience for subscribers.
